Privacy Policy
Falah — Islamic prayer, Quran and worship companion
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Falah (the “App”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the App and related services. The App is owned and operated by Maksym Dziubenko (the “Owner”). You can contact us at any time at [email protected].
Falah is a utility and information app that provides prayer times, the call to prayer (adhan), Qibla direction, the Quran, supplications (dua), dhikr, an Islamic (Hijri) calendar, worship tracking, and related religious features across multiple Islamic schools and denominations.
2. Our privacy approach
We are built to collect as little as possible. The App does not require you to create an account, does not show advertisements, and does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or advertisers. Most of your data — your settings, your selected school (madhhab/denomination), your prayer and fasting logs, streaks, bookmarks, and tasbih counts — is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us.
3. Information we process
3.1 Information stored on your device. Your selected school/denomination, calculation method, notification and adhan settings, prayer and fasting logs, qada ledger, streaks, Quran bookmarks and reading progress, tasbih counts, and other in-app preferences. This information stays on your device unless a feature you enable requires sending part of it to a third-party service listed in Section 4.
3.2 Location data. Approximate GPS coordinates or a manually selected city, used solely to compute prayer times, Qibla, and calendar dates via the AlAdhan API (see Section 4).
3.3 Content requests. When you read the Quran, view a translation, generate a shareable verse image, open a dua, the 99 Names, or word-by-word content, the App requests that content from third-party content APIs. These requests contain the item you asked for (for example, a surah or verse identifier), not information that identifies you.
3.4 Zakat calculator. If you use the Zakat calculator, the asset and liability amounts you enter may be transmitted to the content provider to compute your obligation using current precious-metal prices. These figures are not linked to your identity; do not enter information that could identify you.
3.5 Contact form. If you contact us through our contact form, we process the name, email address, and message you submit. This is delivered to us through Web3Forms (see Section 4) and used only to respond to you.
3.6 Purchases. If you subscribe to a paid plan, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never receive or store your payment card details.
3.7 Diagnostics. We may process limited, aggregated, non-identifying diagnostic and usage information to keep the App stable and improve it. This does not include your name, precise location history, or advertising identifiers.
4. Third-party services we rely on
The App uses the following third-party services to provide its features. Each provider processes only what is described below and under its own privacy policy.
| Service | Purpose | Data sent | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| AlAdhan API | Prayer times, Qibla, Hijri calendar | Approximate location or selected city | aladhan.com |
| Quran.com API | Quran audio timings, random verse | Requested verse / recitation IDs (no personal data) | quran.com |
| Al Quran Cloud API | Quran text, translations, shareable verse images | Requested verse IDs (no personal data) | alquran.cloud |
| UmmahAPI | Dua library, 99 Names, word-by-word, Zakat calc | Zakat: amounts you enter (not identifying) | provider site |
| Apple App Store | Subscriptions and payments | Handled by Apple; card data never reaches us | apple.com |
| Web3Forms | Contact form delivery | Name, email, message you submit | web3forms.com |

5. How we use information
- To provide core features: prayer times, adhan, Qibla, calendar, Quran, dua, tracking.
- To remember your preferences and worship history on your device.
- To process your subscription through Apple and unlock premium features.
- To respond to your messages sent through the contact form.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and keep the App stable.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, ad targeting, or sale to third parties.
6. Sensitive information and consent
Because Falah is a religious app, your use of it may reveal information about your religious beliefs, and your selection of a school or denomination is by nature sensitive. This information is intrinsic to how the App works. By choosing to use Falah, you consent to the processing described in this Policy for the purpose of providing these religious features. If you do not wish this information to be processed, please do not use the App. Your denomination selection and worship logs are stored on your device.
7. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Contact-form messages are retained only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Subscription status is retained while your subscription is active and as required by law. We do not maintain server-side profiles of your worship activity.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/EEA/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to data portability. Because most data is stored on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly by editing or deleting your data in the App or uninstalling it. For anything we hold (such as contact-form messages), email [email protected] and we will respond as required by law. California residents: we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the limited data we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your device and its operating system up to date.
10. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
The third-party services we use may process data in countries other than yours. Where required by law, appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) apply to such transfers.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available in the App or on our website, and material changes will be indicated by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

4. Religious content — important disclaimer
4.1 Calculated estimates. Prayer times, Qibla direction, and calendar dates are calculated estimates based on astronomical models, your location or selected city, and the calculation method and school you choose. They may differ from your local mosque or authority. Always verify with your local authority where precise timing matters.
4.2 Multiple schools. The App supports multiple Islamic schools and denominations. Default settings are provided for convenience and may not match your personal understanding. You are responsible for selecting the settings appropriate to your own practice.
4.3 Not a religious authority. The App is an informational tool, not a source of religious rulings (fatwa) and not a substitute for qualified scholarly guidance. Quran text, translations, supplications, and other religious content are provided from third-party sources for convenience; we do not warrant their completeness or suitability for every school. For religious rulings, consult a qualified scholar.
5. Subscriptions and payments

5.6 Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple and are generally non-refundable except where required by law or under Apple’s policies. Refund requests are handled by Apple.
5.7 Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Where required, you will be notified in advance and, where applicable, asked to consent before a renewal at the new price.
6. Third-party services
The App relies on third-party services (including the AlAdhan API, Quran.com API, Al Quran Cloud API, UmmahAPI, Apple, and Web3Forms) to deliver its features. Your use of features that depend on these services is also subject to those providers’ terms. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services, and features may change if a provider changes or discontinues its service.
7. Intellectual property
The App, its design, branding, and original content are owned by the Owner and protected by intellectual-property laws. Third-party content (such as Quran text, translations, and recitations) belongs to its respective owners and is provided under their terms. You may not use any of these materials except as permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
8. User conduct
You agree to use the App respectfully and lawfully, and not to use it in any way that could harm the App, its providers, or other users, or that disparages or incites discord between communities of any Islamic school or denomination.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Your use of the App is at your own risk, subject to any rights you have under applicable consumer law that cannot be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of or inability to use the App, reliance on prayer times or other calculated content, or the acts of third-party services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Owner from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the App or your breach of these Terms or of any applicable law or third-party right.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms or use the App unlawfully. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will survive.
13. Apple-specific terms
13.1 Standard EULA. Unless a separate licence agreement applies, your licence to use the App is the Apple Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/), as supplemented by these Terms.
13.2 Apple is not a party. These Terms are between you and the Owner, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, maintenance, support, or any claims relating to it.
13.3 Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
